What Is A Health & Wellness  Coach?

A Health & Wellness Coach is someone who safely helps clients dig into root causes of their health challenges, utilizing many resources to suggest lifestyle changes based on what the client feels is least stressful, and support their clients through those changes so to achieve sustainable results.

Health coaches take a “whole” approach to wellness, meaning that they consider the whole body and mind when educating their clients about healthy living. Health coaches are also able to spend time listening carefully to their clients in order to best support them on their unique journey.

Have you ever been to the doctor for an ailment and left feeling unheard or otherwise dissatisfied with the treatment plan? If so, that could be because many doctors today are too busy to spend ample time with patients and are often treating conditions in an isolated manner, with prescription drugs. That’s not to say you shouldn’t visit the doctor with your medical concerns (you certainly should!) or that regular physician visits should be abandoned. As a Health & Wellness Coach, Kris creates a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout her education, has been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for you.

Many approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach and encourage my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together.  We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.

At NO point does coaching services take the place of or replaces that of professional health care providers such as your Doctor or Dietitian.

Helping you lose weight without losing your mind

Before becoming a health coach, professionals must complete a program in order to ensure their clients that they have the education and resources to be successful coaches.

There are many well-established health coaching programs for prospective coaches to choose from. These programs provide a number of curriculums from renowned private programs such as the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the largest nutritional school in the world, where coaches earn certificates of completion or can specialize their certificates in areas such as Gut Health to Women’s hormonal Health to name a few.

During their time in the program(s), health coaches learn how to best educate their clients and empower them to create wellness plans that work for their families and lifestyles. They also learn how to listen carefully to clients’ concerns and how to best motivate individuals and families to stick to their programs and achieve their wellness objectives.

My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in Health  & Wellness and disease prevention, like type 2 diabetes. I educate my clients to empower them to make lifestyle changes and choose health-promoting ways that produce real and lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health, and happiness.

Each session will leave you feeling inspired and motivated. We will talk about things beyond food, seeking to bring balance to important elements of your life such as love and relationships as well as career and money. I will skillfully guide you through making small changes that transform your life. I explore with you all the ways YOUR body is communicating with you, to help you create that inner dialogue with yourself and develop an understanding of what your body is saying so that you really can live a happy, balanced and healthful life. There is no one way of eating that fits all.

Let’s define what you value most from your well-being. We’ll use these visions to motivate specific goals that bring you closer to where you want to be. As your coach, I will NEVER dictate a diet or food for you, but rather educate and explore with you, why some foods make you feel better than others and how to strategically use that feedback. Together we’ll co-create your health goals within reasonable time frames and actionable objectives so you know exactly what you’re working toward.

Integrative Nutrition Plate

The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. To complete the picture, the plate is surrounded by lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity, and spirituality. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!

Primary Food†

It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals and living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Bio-IINdividuality*

The concept of Bio-IINndividuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

Crowding Out††

Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you along the way.

Deconstructing Cravings††

Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.
