Keeping it Real Post: NOW is the time to make changes

I just attended an informational webinar on Covid19 hosted by Dr. Neal Barnard. The summary was this: there’s still time to make simple changes to your diet to help you have a better outcome should you contract the virus. Even those who have Diabetes, Heart disease, or Lung disease, there’s still time.

Dr. Barnard says that by shifting to a Whole Food, Plant-based diet, “you can make changes that will add an extra layer of defense in DAYS”.  By doing something as simple as cutting all animal fats from your diet will make a change. I know this to be true; in 30 days, I was able to lower my cholesterol numbers by 75 points.

How you ask? Go meatless at least 3-4 days a week. Think about this, think of some of the largest land mammals like elephants, gorilla’s, graph, hippos, you don’t see them trying to get protein from eating other animals! They get what they need through the plants they eat.

Lean on beans, seeds, nuts, did you know that red lettuce has protein in it? There’s a ton of ways of meeting your protein requirements through plants vs. animal proteins.

Another way to make a dramatic change to your health is to limit your sugar!!! I can’t stress this enough. It’s not FAT that is making us ill; it’s all the sugar. Now that you all are home, I dare you to go to your kitchen and read a few of your labels, you’ll see sugar listed in the food item. If it’s in the top 5 ingredients, I’d limit it! Keep in mind it’s recommended that we only have 0-9 teaspoons a day.

Please, if you have any questions on this topic or want ideas for how to change your diet, reach out, I’m offering FREE strategy sessions right now (90-minute sessions) to help everyone, the only thing you’d need to do is fill out a Health History!
