Wellness Coaching or mentoring is basically someone who works closely with a client on a one to one basis to assist them in determining and achieving their professional, personal, or health-wellness goals.  A coach utilizes a number of different specialized techniques during this process with the aim of supporting the client in setting and achieving their objectives and goals.

Health and wellness coaching helps guide a person who is in need of help with weight, getting fit, starting an exercise regime, learn to manage stress or stressful situations, nutritional challenges, dealing with chronic pain or  a medical issue.  A coach will help motivate the client to making wise decisions and moving on with their lives in a positive way. Coaching is only a part of the health equation and you will need to seek medical advice as well when applicable.

 

 

Coaching is a powerful tool that can help you to make changes in your business or career, improve your performance, enhance your relationships with others or develop specific skills.

There are also different approaches to coaching and this is where the definitions of coaching become blurred.

Non-directive coaching is coaching in the true sense of the word where the coach simply asks you questions to allow you to find your own solutions. A non-directive coach will certainly not offer you advice and rarely even give you suggestions, although through skillful questioning they will help you to see your situation from a different perspective, gain clarity, uncover options, challenge inconsistencies and hold you accountable to your actions. In a sense, guide on self-discovery journey.

The great benefit of non-directive coaching is that you, the client take full ownership of your own solutions rather than ‘doing what you have been told to do.’ Through this approach you will feel a sense of empowerment to make changes in your life

Directive coaching on the other hand is where the coach offers you solutions, tools and techniques for moving forward. You may like to be offered solutions however the danger is that the solution may not be appropriate for your situation and consequently may not feel fully committed to the solution provided.

Kris bases her nutritional recommendations on a fundamental question of cellular physiology, using muscle balancing.  What does your body (not someone else’s) really need to survive and thrive? Both physically and emotionally.

Our modern day diet is heavy in simple grains, genetically modified foods, and processed subsistence. We don’t consume enough fresh fruits and vegetables. Many of us get our whole grains from instant rice, refined wheat breads, pastas, or cereal. We eat a tremendous amount of prepackaged, pre-made meals and sugar. One-quarter of Americans eat fast food each day. We are overfed and undernourished. Nutritionally as a Nation we are ignorant.

The consensus among many in regards to highly refined sources of carbohydrates within a diet and relying on industrialized processed foods is a primary contributor to the chronic illnesses in America. This lack of nutrient dense food (non-processed) has increased diabetes, heart attacks, obesity, and many other lifestyle related disorders

The good news is that, if properly fed and given the right nutrients, the human body will repair itself, if given the chance and time. To do so, we often need a little guidance. That’s where Kris comes in, to teach just how simple it is to “Clean up your act”, through simple nutritional tips and muscle balancing.
